After a year’s break, the ever-popular Qualicum Beach Fire and Ice street festival returns for its 22nd anniversary in 2014!
Fire – it’s the food! Join in on the traditional chili tasting cook-off along with other kinds of hot foods! Yum! Hot!
Ice – it’s the sculpture! Ice carving competitions will commence, along with other, additional icy activities such as ice cream making and other “cool” foods.
What else is hot and cool? Music! Live, foot-stomping, hip-shaking entertainment from favorite local performers and recording artists.
Fire and Ice is a family-oriented street festival with more than a little something for everyone, including a “Kids Zone” with face painting, balloon shaping, and other games and activities just for the wee ones.
This year’s theme is “Pirates of Qualicum Beach” so expect lots of cut-throats, wenches, and rapscallions in both ice and costume at the festival.
The famous chili cook-off is the centerpiece of the Qualicum Beach Fire and Ice festival with up to 30 teams competing from decorated booths for the coveted “Peoples Choice Award”. Buy a ticket to sample and vote but don’t forget the “hot” food options from local restaurants!
Ice sculptors from across Western Canada and the USA will be setup throughout town and compete with their teams for cash and prizes. Spectators are encouraged to watch as they turn large, dull blocks of ice into spectacular, stunning sculptures.
