Once a year, the Kettle Valley Steam Railway transforms itself from a living piece of history to a wonderful, family adventure ride to fantasy: the KVSR Christmas Train!
Twinkling lights on the cars and old engine 3716, twinkling lights on the station and on the homes along the rail line as it steams through scenic South Okanagan. The cars fill with cheerful, Christmas carol sing-alongs of banjo-player Felix Possak during the 90-minute round trip and, of course, Mr. and Mrs. Claus appear and hand out goodie bags! A thoroughly enchanting experience for young and old alike.
The Kettle Valley Steam Railway, the “Kootenay to Coast Connection,” was built between 1910 and 1915 and remains an important part of British Colombia history. Along these rails went fruit exports to the world, people to their jobs and new starts, the growth of a nation. The Kettle Valley Steam Railway stretch is all that remains of this historic railway. The restored, 1912 Steam Locomotive the “3716” chuffs up the rails a stirring reminder of the past. Your attendance, donations, and all proceeds from associated sales help to assure the continued operation of this living piece of history.
