This year’s Salt Spring Island Fall Fair, one of the oldest such fairs of the Gulf Islands and British Columbia, will be held September 15 & 16, 2012. Over 9,000 attended last year’s event, so now is the time to make your travel plans and secure your Gulf Islands lodging.
The Salt Spring Island Farmers’ Institute, organizers of this annual farm fair on charming Salt Spring Island, have christened the 2012 festival “From Barns to Yarns” (both the wool and storytelling variety of the latter) and hailed their efforts as a deliberate return to its roots, emphasizing the agricultural experience over the electronic marketing of it.
The 2012 lineup of events, competitions, entertainment, games, demonstrations and exhibitions certainly show that the agricultural core of the Salt Spring Island Fall Fair is alive, well, and ready to entertain and educate fair-goers.
