Public spaces have the potential to inspire whole populations.

Mr. Pask, an anthropologist and urban planner who studied in Toronto and Amsterdam, will present the history of public spaces and reveal how theories of their design has evolved to the theories used in the present day.  Recent public space debates, issues and their solutions through design around the world will be explored, including:

  • New park & plaza projects
  • Social (and contested) nature of public places
  • Recent artistic interventions to enliven existing public spaces
