GuitarThe Cariboo area of British Columbia celebrates heritage music at the Where the Rivers Meet Country Bluegrass Jamboree.

The annual Where the Rivers Meet Country Bluegrass Jamboree returns to charming Quesnel, in the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast region of British Columbia from April 18-21, 2013.

One of the few Jamborees to be held indoors, the Seniors’ Centre in Quesnel provides a comfortable, family-friendly venue with a dancefloor, a variety of vendors and on-site parking.  Over a dozen Bluegrass and country bands from the area and out of town will play daily, opening with an open-mic “Circle of Friends” and closing out each day with a “band scramble,” which allows bands to mix and match their members for a little fun.

Admission at the door is $10 per day or $35 for all four days.  Proceeds from this event go toward scholarships for local musicians so that they may take private lessons, attend one of the many camps throughout BC, one of which is the BC Fiddle Treat held at Gavin Lake in July, or benefit from some other form of music education.  Scholarship recipients are included in the Jamboree’s lineup.
