Halfmoon Bay is located in British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast, about two hours northwest of Vancouver, BC. It sits on a large protected bay on the eastern shore of the Strait of Georgia. Halfmoon Bay is accessible from the mainland only by boat (BC ferries) or plane. Once settled in a Halfmoon Bay Bed and Breakfast, guests rarely want to leave.
Like most of the Sunshine Coast, Halfmoon Bay has a small but vibrant community. The arts are important here, as evidenced by a number of festivals in throughout the year. Check out the nearby Gibsons Jazz Festival in June, the Festival of the Written Arts and Gibsons Fibre Arts Festival in August, and the Pender Harbour Jazz Festival in September.
The Sunshine Coast of British Columbia boasts five regional parks, and the mild climate makes it a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Coopers Green Regional Park is a popular spot for divers and swimmers. Smuggler Cover Marine Provincial Park may be the most scenic spot in the Sunshine Coast to launch a kayak – and the sheltered waters make it ideal for all levels of paddlers. Explore the dense forests of Simson Provincial Park, and then rest on its sandy beaches. Take a boat from Halfmoon Bay over to Buccaneer Bay Provincial Park on North Thormanby Island, where swimming is pleasant. The summit of Mount Richardson, in Mount Richardson Provincial Park affords terrific views of Sechelt Inlet and Peninsula.
Great arts, superlative outdoor activities, and a welcoming community: all this and more greets visitors of Halfmoon Bay Bed and Breakfasts, on the Sunshine Coast of BC.
