The vacation community of Sorrento British Columbia is located on the south shores of Shuswap Lake in the North Okanagan region. The Shuspwap Lake area is a major recreational area and offers all kinds of outdoor activities, both summer and winter. Shuswap Lake Marine Provincial Park offers some of the most popular kayaking and canoeing locations in the Southern Interior. At Herald Provincial Park near Sorrento, swimming, fishing and bird watching are popular activities. Also very popular are Shuswap Lake Provincial Park and Roderick Haig Brown Provincial Park along the Adams River, the site of the largest sockeye salmon run on the North American West Coast. There are many great spots for hiking in the various provincial parks as well. Take a boat trip to Copper Island, play a round of golf on one of several Shuswap area golf courses, or for something completely different visit the White Post Auto Museum. There are also many cultural and arts events that showcase the Shuswap area, including the Bluegrass Workshops in late August every year. A great accommodation choice will be a Sorrento Bed & Breakfast, where your innkeepers will be able to provide you with detailed information on the many places to explore in this Northern Okanagan region.
